With the September 10th primary just days away, GOP candidates in the First congressional district faced off in a televised debate Friday night.
The debate was produced by WMURTV and the Union Leader newspaper and also broadcast here on New Hampshire public television.
We'll have analysis in a moment. But first, some highlights.

Chip Neal visits the Nashua area to sample the concerns of voters in one of our more rural areas. He spoke with the managing editor of The Telegraph who spoke about how being near the Ma. border has pushed their politics to be more liberal although the suburbs still tend to be republican. Several people on the street expressed concerns about the economy and the education funding issues. One person favors gambling as a revenue source. We spoke with Donnalee Lozeau a life-long republican who is concerned that the education funding issue is overshadowing other important issues like affordable housing and prescription drugs for seniors. We also spoke with Kris Durmer, a Nashua attourney who is a life-long democrat who is concerned that we are too dependent on foreign oil. And people seem to want the candidates to be honest and stay away from negative adds and campaigning.
